This is not a relaxed weekend drive. Marrakech to M’hamid is a long journey across the Atlas and Draa Valley; families and travelers sensitive to road time should add a night.

What fits into three days.
Marrakech → High Atlas → Aït Ben Haddou → Draa Valley → M’hamid
Depart Marrakech early and cross the Tizi n’Tichka road. This is the longest day of the short itinerary, so stops are purposeful and the pace is agreed in advance.
Pause around Aït Ben Haddou or Ouarzazate for lunch, then continue southeast toward Agdz and the Draa Valley.
Follow the palm corridor through Zagora to M’hamid, arriving at Morocco’s final oasis settlement before the desert tracks.
Seeing the landscape change in one day from High Atlas slopes to the Draa oasis and the Sahara gateway.
Settle into the named M’hamid-area stay and rest before the desert program.

M’hamid → Erg Lihoudi
Spend an unhurried morning in M’hamid and prepare a small overnight bag. The local team confirms the day’s wind, heat and activity timing.
Travel to the Erg Lihoudi area and settle into the selected camp. Lunch is included only when named in the proposal.
Take the confirmed camel ride at a comfortable pace toward sunset, with time to dismount and walk on the dunes.
A close-to-M’hamid desert night that leaves more time for camel trekking and camp life than a farther Chigaga crossing would allow on this short schedule.
Dinner at camp followed by music or a fire only when confirmed for the date and camp arrangement.

Dinner and breakfast are normally included at camp; all other meals and drinks are confirmed in writing.
Private tent at the named Erg Lihoudi camp; shared or private bathroom facilities are stated before booking.
Erg Lihoudi is closer to M’hamid than Erg Chigaga. Travellers seeking the most remote dune setting should choose a longer Chigaga itinerary.

Wake for sunrise if you wish, have breakfast and return toward M’hamid to rejoin the paved road.
Travel north through Zagora and the Draa Valley, stopping for lunch according to the day’s progress.
Continue through Ouarzazate and cross the High Atlas back to Marrakech.

Arrive at the agreed Marrakech drop-off. The exact arrival remains dependent on road and mountain conditions.

Realistic timing
Early departure is essential. Road, meal and photo stops must remain disciplined to avoid a late desert arrival.
Which dunes?
The proposal names Erg Lihoudi or Erg Chigaga. They have very different access times and should never be sold as interchangeable.
Overnight comfort
Bed layout, bathroom type, bedding and electricity are confirmed for the selected camp.
Best fit
For time-limited adults comfortable with long drives; not the default recommendation for toddlers or a slow pace.
Choose it only when your available days are fixed and reaching the Sahara matters more than a leisurely southern route.

Can we reach Erg Chigaga in three days from Marrakech?
Yes, but it creates long travel days. Erg Lihoudi offers a closer alternative from M’hamid.
Is a camel ride automatic?
Only when it is listed with its approximate duration and location in the proposal.
Should families add a night?
Usually yes. A Draa Valley or Ouarzazate night makes the route considerably easier.
