The route runs one way down the south side of the Atlas — Aït Ben Haddou, Skoura, the Valley of Roses, Todra, Nkob, the Draa — so you unpack somewhere different most nights and drive a moderate amount most days rather than a punishing amount on a few. The trade is the two ends: day one over the mountains, and day seven back across them in about four and a half hours. If the driving matters more to you than the architecture, the four-day Chigaga route reaches the desert faster and asks less of you in between.
