Compare desert camps by real comfort details—location, access, tent construction, bathroom type, power, meals and nighttime conditions—rather than relying on the word luxury alone.

Why it matters
A camp is only as good as the details confirmed in writing.
A premium camp can provide a private furnished tent, proper bedding, dinner and breakfast, but facilities differ significantly. The written proposal should name the camp and confirm whether the bathroom is private or shared.
Remote comfort still comes with desert realities: sand, temperature swings, generator or solar limits, off-road access and reduced connectivity. These are part of planning, not defects to hide.

Start with the conditions that actually change the activity.
Read beyond the word luxury
Ask for the named camp, tent and bathroom category, bed arrangement, power source and transfer method. Decorative rugs and lanterns do not answer whether the shower is ensuite, whether heating exists or how luggage reaches the tent.
Plan the night, not only the room
The best camp choice also considers dune access, vehicle noise, evening music, sunrise walking distance and the onward route. A quieter standard camp can suit some travelers better than a more elaborate camp in a busier setting.

Desert transfer
Arrive by the vehicle or camel arrangement named in the proposal; luggage normally follows the vehicle plan.
Camp orientation
The host explains the tent, bathroom, electricity, meals and safe walking area.
Dinner and evening
A Moroccan dinner is commonly followed by music or fire when conditions and camp practice allow.
Breakfast and departure
Sunrise is optional; breakfast and onward transfer follow the confirmed route.

Bathroom standard
Private ensuite, private external and shared facilities are different products. Confirm the exact arrangement.
Power and connectivity
Electricity may be solar or generator-supported and mobile service unreliable. Confirm medical-device charging needs.
Temperature
Heating and cooling are not automatic. Ask about bedding and seasonal conditions rather than assuming hotel climate control.
Access
Chigaga requires suitable 4×4 travel from M’hamid. A normal car cannot complete the dune approach.

Participate responsibly
Use water and power carefully, keep noise low, carry non-organic waste out and judge a camp by its local employment and environmental practice as well as décor.

Does luxury always mean an ensuite bathroom?
No. The proposal must confirm the specific bathroom arrangement.
Is there air-conditioning?
Do not assume it. Remote power and cooling vary by camp and season; request written confirmation if essential.
Can a small car reach the camp?
Not Erg Chigaga. The final approach requires an appropriate 4×4 transfer.

Only the written inclusion list controls this; drinks should not be assumed.
